Welcome to the 2009 challenge

52 Books in 52 Weeks
.

This challenge is the brainchild of Kay of Cal who proposed this book challenge to the ladies and gents of the Well Trained Mind message boards. The goal to read one book (at least) a week for 52 weeks.

The rules are very simple
  1. Read an average of a book a week - 52 books in 52 weeks
  2. Re-reading a book counts--as long as you first read it before 2009
  3. School related books don't count (unless you want them to)
  4. You can start reading on 1-1-09 at 00:00:01AM
Robin or Kay will post a thread each week on the message boards each Thursday where you may list what book you will be reading for the week.

This blog is a place for all participants of the challenge to post reviews and let everyone know what you think about the books you read. We will also be posting links to the various books lists out there such as "1001 Books to read before you die" and various bestseller lists to give you some new ideas for books.

  7. What a wonderful idea! I keep track of the books I read every year. Last year, I read 49 books, but the year before I hit the 52-book goal.

If you need any suggestions of good new books to read, check out the Number One Novels blog for books by new authors.

  8. What a great blog!! Great concept!! Best of everything to you and all your participants and keep reading!! Read everything! And become informed. Include everyone in your family, too. It's the only way to teach the next generation to think for themselves. You can't get groupthink overtake these brilliant, inquiring young minds. And besides it's not a bad idea for adults, either! LOL Again, I applaud you!!
