Welcome to the 2009 challenge
52 Books in 52 Weeks.
This challenge is the brainchild of Kay of Cal who proposed this book challenge to the ladies and gents of the Well Trained Mind message boards. The goal to read one book (at least) a week for 52 weeks.
The rules are very simple
This blog is a place for all participants of the challenge to post reviews and let everyone know what you think about the books you read. We will also be posting links to the various books lists out there such as "1001 Books to read before you die" and various bestseller lists to give you some new ideas for books.
52 Books in 52 Weeks.
This challenge is the brainchild of Kay of Cal who proposed this book challenge to the ladies and gents of the Well Trained Mind message boards. The goal to read one book (at least) a week for 52 weeks.
The rules are very simple
- Read an average of a book a week - 52 books in 52 weeks
- Re-reading a book counts--as long as you first read it before 2009
- School related books don't count (unless you want them to)
- You can start reading on 1-1-09 at 00:00:01AM

This looks great! Thanks for putting the site together!
ReplyDeleteI have already started. :) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHey this looks great! Count me in as a participant. I'm starting my book today and I have a ton reserved at the library.
ReplyDeleteWe are a not-for-profit educational organization, founded by Mortimer Adler and we are Encyclopaedia Britannica’s exclusive agent for these programs.
ReplyDeleteWe have recently made an exciting discovery--three years after writing the wonderfully expanded third edition of How to Read a Book, Mortimer Adler and Charles Van Doren made a series of thirteen 14-minute videos on the art of reading. The videos were produced by Encyclopaedia Britannica. For reasons unknown, sometime after their original publication, these videos were lost and are now available.
For those of you who teach, this is great for the classroom.
I cannot over exaggerate how instructive these programs are--we are so sure that you will agree, if you are not completely satisfied, we will refund your donation.

What a wonderful idea! I keep track of the books I read every year. Last year, I read 49 books, but the year before I hit the 52-book goal.
ReplyDeleteIf you need any suggestions of good new books to read, check out the Number One Novels blog for books by new authors.
What a great blog!! Great concept!! Best of everything to you and all your participants and keep reading!! Read everything! And become informed. Include everyone in your family, too. It's the only way to teach the next generation to think for themselves. You can't get groupthink overtake these brilliant, inquiring young minds. And besides it's not a bad idea for adults, either! LOL Again, I applaud you!!
ReplyDeleteHello! I love your blog! You have an award waiting for you at Sunflower Ranch:
