2010 Read 52 books in 52 weeks Challenge

Read 52 Books in 52 Week in 2010

The goal is to read one book (at least) a week for 52 weeks.  The rules are very simple:

  1. The challenge will run from January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010.
  2. Our book weeks will begin on Sunday.  Since the new year started on Friday, you get a couple bonus days for the first week.  It will be simpler to keep track rather than running from Friday to Friday.
  3. Participants may join at any time.
  4. All forms of books are acceptable including e-books, audio books, etc.
  5. Re-reads are acceptable as long as they are read after January 1, 2010.
  6. Books may overlap other challenges.
  7. Create an entry post linking to this blog.
  8. Come back and sign up with Mr. Linky in the "I'm participating post" below this post.
  9. You don't have a blog to participate.  Post your weekly book in the comments section.
  10. Mr. Linky will be added to the bottom of the weekly post for you to link to reviews of your most current reads.

    1. Great idea! I suspect I will read a book a week too!

    2. Sounds great! I'm going to come back.

    3. I'm so excited, thank you for the warm welcome :)

    4. Hey, I just found your blog. I LOOOOOVE this idea about 52 books! I'll definitely be a part of this.

You should check out another new challenge I just discovered. I'm going to join it as soon as I get my book list together for it too.

      I'll be back soon,
      Katianne :)

    5. glad I found this challenge for 2010

    6. Sorry, I haven't created a entry post linking to your blog. I'll get on that this week.

    7. Do you mind if I make a button out of your header graphic? Or do you have one we can use?

    8. No I don't mind if you make a button out of the graphic. I don't have one made up right now, but have been thinking about it, since I've done several for my other blogs. I'll probably be coming up with some over the next week or so for the new year. I'm debating changing the header but haven't made up my mind yet.

    9. I look forward to giving this a try. I wrote down all the books I read in 2009 and it ended up at 30 so I will need to read faster which is fine with motivation :)I talked about this on my blog and it will post tomorrow..
      Look forward to 2010..

    19. I’m gonna try 52 books this year, mainly because I don’t read books like I used, and I need spend less time on the Internet. I invite others to keep me in check throughout the year:

    20. Robin,

You are hosting, right? How does one get listed on the participants side bar? I'm thinking I'm not there because I didn't link back in my original blog post, but I have since put a link in my blog's sidebar. Is there some other requirement to be listed on the page?

I'm already into my first book, and hope to be finished with it by tomorrow!

    21. I want to be the young woman in the picture -- wearing that dress and reading by the geraniums at the open window...

    22. I'd love to join!

    24. luv this challenge! I host book clubs for my boys to try to motivate them.. but I've neglected my own reading pleasure.

    25. I'm doing this with my roommate at We're choosing books from a variety of different genres in order to broaden our horizons a bit!

    26. This is beside the point, but I love that picture at the top of your blog. Can you tell me its title and the artist? I have a vague idea, but don't want to reveal my ignorance.
This is a wonderful blog, I say a mighty "Here, here!" for waht you are doing.

    27. Donita: The painting is called "Reading by the Window" by Charles James Lewis - late 1800's romantic period. I'm glad you dropped by. I'm looking forward to reading "Vanishing Sculptor" this year. And your visit reminded me that I wanted to go back and re reading Dragonspell since it's been a few years since and I want to read the rest of the series. Thank you for visiting, your kind words and the wonderful books you write.

    29. I am enjoying every moment of this! :)
      Great idea!

    30. Totally random question--
Who painted the picture at the top of your blog? What's its name? I love it and would love to track down a copy for my little girl's room.

(We are addicted to books at our house and I love to find prints of book-reading pictures.)

      Thanks, Kim (

    32. I would to participate in this challenge but I am a little slow when it comes to how to link all this to my blog. Do I just put a link to this site and list on my blog what I am reading and then review on it there or is there a place here to do that? Sorry for the dumb question but I am just gettting started with blogging. you can email me privately if you want.

    33. Robin, I was toodling around with a new template on my blog today and while I was at it I made another button for 52 in 52. I"m not such a Victorian girl myself. If you or anyone else would like it, here's the link:

      I hope that's okay!

    34. I've been participating for a while now but have never officially signed up. Sorry for the oversight.

    35. I set this same goal for myself early in Jan ... I was doing pretty well and then fell off. Wish I had known about this online community doing the same thing before. I'll have to resume my quest! Thank you! :D
