BW16: Judge a Book by the Cover

A couple years back I joined a challenge in which one of the tasks was to pick a book by its cover. The hard part, not to read the blurb and find out what it is about beforehand.  Easier said than done. The temptation is just a bit too much.  Especially in person - however it is a bit easy to do when on line.  Since then have chosen books a few times using that method.  Usually end up with something excellent.    I perused Amazon yesterday, wandered about and discovered a few covers by new to me authors  that really intrigued me and made me want to know more about the book.

What do you think?  Which one should I read?  I dare you to try picking out a book based on its cover alone and see what you end up with.   Of course, you have to share.

  1. I've been reading, but got behind with posting due to computer problems and other things that kept me busy.

  2. I would probably pick The Aviary. I'm attracted to the bright green cover. I like your challenge to pick books solely based on the cover. I tend to do that with my free Kindle reads. Sometimes it works for me, sometimes it doesn't, but since they are free, I don't mind so much.

    1. Funny, I never look at the covers for ebooks.

  3. Steppenwolf was a hard read, but I am making my way through the "100 Great Books List." So, I only have 25 to go now!

  4. Whoops! I'm tired and I seemed to have link to this post instead of my own blog. Don't know how to fix it. I guess I"ll just post it again and you, Robin can delete the first one? Is that possible? Thanks and sorry about my klutziness.

  5. I would pick Cemetery Girl (daughter works in the field) or The Cove whose cover looks peaceful but may cover up a dark secret.

I finished The Gardner Heist today. The review doesn't go live until May so I'll link it up then. The others are ones posted last week.

  6. I must admit I very often choose a book by it's cover, especially if I pay a visit to my local library. I always think that a book must be good if the author has made an effort with a fancy cover!
Of course that's not always the case.
By looking at the covers I would probably go for Peculiar Children.
But I read a Susan Cooper book last year and I am hoping to read more of her books.

Best cover I have come across this year was 'The Scorpio Races' and a good book too.
