I highly recommend two literary cookbooks, The Redwall Cookbook by Brian Jacques and Hallelujah! The Welcome Table by Maya Angelou. The Redwall Cookbook is a great source for recreating many of the dishes that grace the pages of each of his Redwall novels. The Welcome Table is a collection of memories linked to food by the author. Her story telling skill makes the food feed more than just your stomach.

The literary cookbooks look very enticing. As a confirmed Jane-ite, I Must check out the Jane Austen Cookbook! Sorry to be so late posting this week; I had finished my book last weekend, and have now finished another, but had some pressing deadlines and just couldn't get to it sooner. I finished 11 books in January, but I also stayed inside a lot with sub zero temps. Best book this month would have been Bonhoeffer until I read Watership Down. Worst book I finished was Swamplandia! Only put down one book out of absolute boredom. I choose books randomly based on what catches my eye as I walk past it in a bookstore or on someone's recommendation. Choice Cuts looks really interesting: Herodotus on egyptian dining, plutarch on Lucullus dining with himself to Eating at Cab Calloway's. Wide variety there. Added it to my wishlist.
